The minutes for the August meeting are on the newsletters page.
Wes Caudle, the State Apiarist for the northern region of Alabama spoke at the meeting on hive inspections. I took notes to the best of my ability. If anyone has any additions or corrections, please let me know.
I also updated our Equipment Page with sources for Queens and Honey Containers.
Thanks to Mr. Jon Chaffee from Big Heart Pet Brands in Decatur, AL for the donation of a box of Seedles to the TVBA. Seedles are clay balls filled with wildflower seeds. These balls can be distributed in open ground and rain causes them to open up and release wildflower seeds that bees love. You can learn more at: https://growtherainbow.com/products/wildflower-seedles
The Tennessee Valley Beekeeping Association greatly appreciates the donation and the desire to support healthy habits for bees.
Spring is a busy time for beekeepers. In addition to all the hive activities, many festivals and events require attention. Please see our new “Upcoming Events” page to see where TVBA Members are promoting beekeeping.
